Player two·

Player two is Claude, beside every station. It sees three things: your game as it is now, your design, and what the checker says. It never changes your game on its own. You keep the controller.

Asking·

Say what you want in the box, or what you want to know, and press the arrow beside it, or Enter (Shift Enter for a new line).

  • A question comes back as words.
  • A change comes back as lines you keep or drop, in the thread, each one headed with where it goes. Untick any you do not want and press Add changes, at the top of the answer or the bottom. There is nothing to copy or paste: the button puts every kept change in its place, and Undo takes it back.
  • Show my game sends the game screen as it is now with your next question. Add a picture sends a drawing or a screenshot (PNG or JPEG, up to 1 MB, four at most), or paste or drop one on the box. No photos of people.

Under the box, pick how player two works:

mode what player two does
Build it player two builds what you ask, all of it
Help me build it player two goes one step at a time, explains each change, and lets you decide the next step

The gate

If the lines you kept would break the game, player two says so before you try it, and Add changes waits. Keep both, or drop both. Keep at least one change to try it.

It can play your game·

Ask about something that goes wrong while you play (it will not jump, it never scores) and player two can play your game before it answers. It plays right on your screen, from the start screen: the corners turn royal blue, the top says player two is playing and what it is doing, the keys it presses light up, and the numbers it watches change in the corner. Then the thread shows what it pressed and what it saw, and its answer. One play for each ask, and the play does not use another of your asks.

The rail·

Your rules for player two tell it how to work with you on this game, like explain each change before you make it. It reads them before every answer about this game. Save rules keeps them.

Not sure where to start? Start a design session: player two asks what game you want to make, and suggests a starter for it.

Big or open asks go straight to player two. Ask for a boss fight or make it cooler and it builds a whole version, then says what it chose so you can keep it or ask for something else. When an ask was hard to read, the answer ends with how it could have gone: your ask, rewritten the way that would have landed the first time.

When player two's version still will not run after three tries, the answer says so and your game stays as it was. Keep fixing sends it back to work on that same version.

Stuck? Light the beacon·

When player two cannot fix it, press the beacon at the top of player two and fill in two lines: What should happen? and What happens instead?

  • Light the beacon sends those two lines for help, with this game's code, what the checker says, its errors, and your asks on this game with what came of each.
  • Try again puts your two lines in the box for player two instead. They are the description player two needs too.
  • When three tries on one game go nowhere within 20 minutes (a crash, a change you kept none of, the same ask again), the beacon card opens on its own, headed Stuck on this one?, with what you tried.
  • While it is lit, keep building. Got it yourself? I got it puts it out. When it is answered, the studio tells you.

The co-op log·

Every round with player two is kept with your account: what you asked, what it offered, and what you kept. Co-op log in the game menu shows it, with Copy my log. It goes with your shared game only if you tick the box on ship.

What goes where

When you ask, your message, any picture with it, your game's code and what the checker says go to Anthropic, which runs Claude for spawn, so it can answer. Your questions and its answers are saved with your account, and spawn's admin can read them, word for word. A beacon is kept with your account too, and the admin reads it with your name. Do not put your name, or anyone else's, in what you send. What is kept, under the box, says all of it.

Live

While you work, Spawn administration can see your game live, under your name, never its sounds. The live line under the box says so; Stop sharing stops it for that tab.
